Junior guard Alfonso Davis (Bronx, N.Y.) delivered an incredible performance in three games this past week as he averaged a double-double with 20.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game. He also shot a blistering .525 from the floor, going (21-of-40), and .842 from the free throw line (16-of-19).
He opened the week playing just 25 minutes against defending Peach Belt Conference champion Montevallo (1/4) but made each of those minutes count in a 72-67 victory. Davis scored 14 points, going 6-of-9 from the floor, and grabbed seven boards while blocking five shots and notching an assist.
That would be only a tast of what was to come. In an overtime outing against Armstrong State (1/6) he finished with 22 points, hitting on 7-of-12 shots from the field and all seven from the foul line, and hauled in nine rebounds to go with a block, assist and steal.
Davis saved his best for last in the week's finale at North Georgia (1/9). In that game he was absolutely dominant with 22 points, 14 rebounds and three more blocks. On top of that performance, his last two points - on a drive to the hole in the final seconds - would be the difference as he helped secure a hard-fought 76-74 victory over the Nighthawks.
On the season he is averaging 12.8 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game.
