Senior cross country runner Maia Kuhnen (Trier, Germany) delivered an outstanding fall season to earn the Chick-fil-A Forest Park Dwarf House Student-Athlete of the Month for November.
Over the course of seven meets, Kuhnen led the Lakers in every meet, including earning both All-Southeast Region and All-Peach Belt Conference honors. Among her individual accomplishments were six top five finishes, among them winning the Struts Season Opener (9/4) and placing second the following week at the West Georgia Wolves XC Invitational (9/11) the following week.
She placed fifth at the PBC Championships to earn All-Conference honors and was an impressive ninth at the NCAA Division II Southeast Region Championships (11/7). In the latter, Kuhnen was just a half second away from qualifying for the national championships in Joplin, Missouri.
Additionally, she was just the fourth individual in program history to be named PBC Runner of the Week (9/9) and was selected as one of only two international students among the 44 members of the PBC Cross Country All-Academic Team.
