Junior Chris Florence (Newnan, Ga.) is hitting his stride at just the right time of the year as he repeated as Peach Belt Conference Champion in the 400-meters and the 4x400-meter relay this past weekend at the league’s championships.
Â
In order to get to the 400-meter final he had to qualify and did so with an NCAA Division II Provisional mark of 47.66, which was also the top time among the 19 competitors.
Â
On the final day he would take home the title in that event with a time of 47.96 before teaming with senior T.J. Witherspoon (Thomasville, Ga.) and freshmen Churchill Ezeokonkwo (Riverdale, Ga.) and Brian Sims, Jr. (Trussville, Ala.) to win the 4x400 with a time of 3:18.85, bringing home his sixth All-PBC honor and fourth championship in the process.
Â
Additionally, he also qualified for the 200-meter final with a mark of 22.44, the third fastest of 22, before finishing 6-of-8 in the final at 22.91.
