Junior defender Kwaku Dwamena (Richmond, Va.) continued his incredible season with three goals and an assist in a pair of double overtime games this past week.
Â
Opening against Erskine (10/4) he almost single handedly delivered a victory as he played a role in all three scores. Dwamena delivered the game tying score in the 58th minute then set up the go-ahead goal eight minutes later. After the Flying Fleet knotted the game to send it to overtime, he would strike again. In double OT he took a pass from Dean Foster and buried it for the game winner, 3-2, in the 105th minute.
Â
His next opponent would be unlike any other in the history of the program - a defending national champion. Traveling to Wingate (10/7), the Lakers went back-and-forth, taking the lead on three separate occasions. The last of those would come in the 88th minute as Dwamena finished off a cross on the left post to put Clayton State up 3-2 on his lone shot of the game.
Â
The week's performance drove his season goal total to a PBC leading nine scores, a feat he has accomplished on only 16 shots for an incredible .563 shot percentage. The numbers are even more impressive when you consider that 13 of those shots have been on goal for an .813 shot on goal percentage. Both of those lead the league as does his 20 points.
