Clayton State women record six Top 10 finishes at Emory Invitational
ATLANTA – March 23-24, 2012 – Productive was the word of the day for the Clayton State Laker women's track and field team as the Lakers turned in a victory and recorded six Top 10 finishes on Friday and Saturday at the Emory Invitational.
Highlighting the meet for Clayton State was senior Kayla Mobley. The starting power forward on the nationally-ranked Clayton State women's basketball team, Mobley won the shot put with a throw of 41-7.5 feet. She also placed second in the discus with a distance of 124-1.75 feet.
In addition to Mobley, freshman Maia Kuhnen placed third in the 800-meter run in 2:19.73, while junior Paige Galvin placed seventh in the 5,000-meter run in 18:55.35. Sophomore Jhaquil Richardson also recorded a seventh-place finish in the long jump in 32-11.75 feet, and junior Jasmine Madison placed 10th in the long jump in 15-5.5 feet.
In the only relay event of the meet, the Clayton State 4x400-meter team of Kuhnen, Javois, Monique Belmudes and Tamara Marshall placed fifth in 4:15.60.
Clayton State returns to Emory next weekend (March 30-31) for the Emory Classic.
