Clayton State women set one team record at DII Team Challenge

GENEVA, Ohio – February 4, 2012 – Running against a very deep and talented field at the NCAA Division II level, the Clayton State Laker women's track and field team set one team record and recorded seven Top 25 finishes during the DII Team Challenge on Saturday at Lake Erie.

The highlight was in the Distance Medley Relay as the Clayton State team of Samantha Walling, Gisele Javois, Maia Kuhnen and Paige Galvin placed sixth overall with a time of 13:04.25. In addition, the Laker 4x400-meter relay team of Kuhnen, Javois, Monique Belmudes and Jasmine Madison placed 19th overall in 4:18.50.

In the individual events, Madison placed 11th overall in the 60-meter dash in a personal-best time of 28.56 seconds. Belmudes placed 16th in the mile run in 5:25.28, while Kuhnen placed 17th overall in the 800-meter run and set the team record for the event with a time of 2:22.16. She bested the previous mark that was held by Belmudes.

Clayton State also had a 21st finish in the 3,000-meter run by Galvin in 10:54, and Kasi Cross placed 24th in the long jump in 12-4.50 feet.

Clayton State's final regular season meet of the 2012 indoor season is next Friday and Saturday (Feb. 10-11) in the Tiger Paw Invite at Clemson.
