Clayton State women battle hard at Gator Invite
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – January 22, 2012 – The Clayton State Laker women's track and field team returned to action in the 2012 indoor season with a strong battle on Sunday in the Gator Invite at Florida.
Due to the high level of competitiveness in the predominant Division I meet, Laker head coach Mike Mead had 10 athletes participating. Individually, junior Paige Galvin had the top performance for Clayton State as she placed 14th in the 3,000-meter run in 10:49.38. Junior Monique Belmudes made a strong return to the Laker program by finishing 18th overall in the mile run in 5:34.92.
In addition, Jasmine Madison placed 44th in the 55-meter dash in 7.64 seconds. The Laker 4x400-meter relay team of Belmudes, Gisele Javois, Maia Kuhnen and Samantha Walling finished 20th in 4:19.04.
Clayton State's next meet is Division II Team Challenge at Lake Erie in Geneva, Ohio on Feb. 4.
