Clayton State rebounds with a 7-2 Peach Belt Conference victory over Georgia College

MORROW, Ga. – March 18, 2012 – Facing a frustrating two-match losing skid, the Clayton State Laker women's tennis team got back on track on Sunday with an impressive 7-2 victory over Peach Belt Conference rival Georgia College at Laker Courts.

The victory improves No. 9-ranked Clayton State to 4-5 overall and 3-1 in the Peach Belt. No. 16 Georgia College falls to 5-5 overall and 2-4 in Peach Belt play.

The match didn't start well for Clayton State as the Lakers dropped two of the three matches in doubles. But Clayton State swept the singles matches, winning all six. Two of the victories went three sets. Marie Cercelletti pulled off a thrilling 6-0, 4-6, 7-6 (7-4) victory at No. 1 over the Lady Bobcats' Lisa Setyon-Ortenzio, and Martina Dedaj knocked off Georgia College's Ivana Marevic 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 at No. 3.

Hannah Keeling (No. 2), Charlotte Fabricius (No. 4), Jessica Budd (No. 5) and Alyze' Pagal (No. 6) each won in straight sets. Fabricius and Pagal recorded the Lakers' lone victory in doubles at No. 3.

Next up for Clayton State is a Peach Belt showdown against No. 7 Columbus State on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Laker Courts.
