No. 7 Clayton State women drop tough 5-4 decision against Shorter

MORROW, Ga. – February 7, 2012 – Playing its second nationally-ranked NAIA team to start the season, the Clayton State Laker women's tennis team dropped a tough 5-4 decision against visiting Shorter on Tuesday at Laker Courts.

The defeat drops seventh-ranked Clayton State to 0-2 overall. Shorter, ranked 15th in the NAIA, improves to 2-1.

The Lakers won three matches in singles and once in doubles. In singles, Marie Cercelletti won a 6-1, 6-2 decision against Shorter's Aurore Beltranado at No. 2, while Hannah Keeling won by the same score at No. 3 against Aurelie De Montjou from Shorter. At No. 5, Charlotte Fabricius won a 7-6 (7-3), 6-4 decision against the Lady Hawks' Margot Vetter.

In doubles, Keeling and Dedaj prevailed 8-3 at No. 2 against Shorter's Beltrando and Holton.

Clayton State is back in action on Sunday with a road match-up at Clark Atlanta.
