Clayton State’s Krommelova selected Preseason All-Peach Belt Conference for women’s tennis
AUGUSTA, Ga. – January 31, 2012 – The Peach Belt Conference released its preseason All-Conference team for women's tennis on Tuesday, and Clayton State's Ivana Krommelova was selected to the conference preseason squad.
Krommelova, a junior from Nove Zamky, Slovakia, helped pace Clayton State to its best season in program history in the 2011 season. She is joined on the preseason All-Peach Belt Conference team by Francis Marion's Mona Blauen and Jitka Gavdunova and the Armstrong trio of Aleksandra Filipovski, Kathleen Henry and Barbora Krtickova.
A two-year starter for the Lakers, Krommelova finished last season 19-6 overall in doubles, including 15-6 with teammate Viktoriya Semyrodenko. In addition, she went 14-5 in singles playing the majority of the season at No. 3. Krommelova played a majority of the season in doubles at No. 1. She went 8-3 against Peach Belt opponents in singles, and 10-2 in doubles.
Krommelova was selected both All-Peach Belt Conference and ITA Division II All-American in doubles, finishing the season ranked seventh in the nation in Division II in doubles and 49th in singles. She led the Lakers to an 18-8 mark, advancing to the NCAA Division II "Final Four" for the first time in program history.
Krommelova enters the 2012 season ranked 15th in Division II in doubles.
Clayton State, which is ranked preseason No. 7 in the nation in Division II, opens the 2012 season on Saturday at 12 p.m. against defending NAIA National Champion Auburn-Montgomery at Laker Courts. Match time is 12 p.m.
