Griggs named Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week
MORROW, GA – For the second time this season, Clayton State women's basketball player Drameka Griggs has been the Peach Belt Conference's Player of the Week.
A 5-5 guard from Ellenwood, GA, she received the honor from the conference office in Augusta on Monday after leading the Lakers to two victories last week and a couple of wins during the holiday break.
Griggs was outstanding in the four games for the 4th-ranked Lakers, averaging 16.5 points, 3.8 steals, 3.5 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. She began the stretch with a 20-point effort against Benedict in the Heritage Bank Holiday Classic and finished with a 26-point game against Flagler on Saturday.
In the game against Flagler, the senior came close to a triple-double as she added nine steals, seven assists and seven rebounds to her point total while hitting 12 of 19 shots from the floor. Griggs hit 14-of-15 free throws and shot 49 percent from the field.
Griggs is currently fourth in the PBC in scoring and field goal percentage while leading the Peach Belt in steals and free throw percentage. She was also named the Peach Belt Player of the Week on December 3rd.
Clayton State (11-0; 4-0 PBC) will return to action on Thursday, traveling to face Young Harris on Thursday before returning home to host North Georgia on Saturday.
