Lakers climb to 4th in latest USA Today Sports/ESPN Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll
MORROW, GA – The Clayton State women's basketball team continues its climb up the USA Today Sports/ESPN NCAA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll.
The Lakers (5-0) climbed to 4th in the country in the poll released today, moving up from 5th last week. The Lakers captured three victories last week, including two impressive NCAA Division II Southeast Regional wins.
The Lakers defeated regional opponent Newberry 66-60 on Tuesday before capturing two wins in the Loch Shop Classic over the weekend. The Lakers overpowered Chowan 74-28 on Saturday before winning an important regional game over Lenoir-Rhyne 52-48 on Sunday.
Ashland, with a 8-0 record, sits atop the poll, followed by Bentley and Peach Belt Conference rival USC Aiken, who is ranked 3rd with a 5-0 start.
Clayton State is off this week for finals before returning to action on Saturday, December 15th, traveling to Georgia Southwestern for its Peach Belt opener. The Lakers will play at home again on Monday, December 17th, hosting Columbus State.
