USA Today Sports/ESPN Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll
MORROW, GA – After opening the season with two impressive wins last weekend, the Clayton State women's basketball team climbed three spots in this week's USA Today Sports/ESPN Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll.
The Lakers (2-0) are currently ranked 7th in the poll, moving up from the 10th place spot in the preseason poll. The Lakers opened the season in the Union University Lady Bulldog Classic with a 68-51 victory over Delta State, followed by overpowering host Union 66-44.
Ashland, with a 4-0 record, sits atop the poll, followed by Bentley and Pittsburg State. Peach Belt Conference rival USC Aiken is ranked 5th in latest rankings with a 3-0 start.
Clayton State will return to action on Tuesday, November 27th, traveling to face regional foe Newberry in a 6 p.m. contest. The Laker home schedule will begin on Saturday, December 1st, hosting the Loch Shop Classic. The Classic will feature Clayton State, league opponent North Georgia, regional opponent Lenoir-Rhyne and Chowan. Clayton State will play Chowan and Lenoir-Rhyne in the two-day event.
