Clayton State men place six on USTFCCCA All-Southeast Region for indoor track and field
NEW ORLEANS, La. – March 2, 2012 – The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released its 2012 Indoor Track and Field men's All-Region teams on Friday, and the Clayton State Lakers had six athletes selected All-Southeast Region.
Three Laker athletes were each honored in three events. Ayrton Azcue, a junior from Zizur Mayor, Spain, and Shelby Russell, a senior from Oklahoma City, Okla., were both selected in the 800-meter run, the 4x400-meter relay and the distance medley relay. Edlin Veras, a senior from Hollywood, Fla., was selected in the 400-meters in addition to the 4x400-meter relay and the distance medley relay.
Ricky Fort and Charles Anderson were each selected in two events. Fort, a senior from Davisboro, Ga., was selected in the 800-meter run and 4x400-meter relay, and Anderson, a sophomore from Pittsburgh, Penn., was honored in the distance medley relay and the 800-meter run.
In addition, Albert Mong'ony, a senior from Eldoret, Kenya, was selected in the mile run.
Clayton State opens the outdoor season on March 17 with the Morehouse Relays in Atlanta.
