Junuzovic records ‘hat trick’ in first-ever Clayton State match

Morrow, GA  -- AUGUST 31, 2012 – Sophomore forward Ado Junuzovic opened his Clayton State career with a performance to remember Friday.

In his first-ever Clayton State game, the transfer from Georgia Southern recorded a "hat-trick" with three goals to lead the Lakers to a 5-0 victory over Pfeiffer in the Loch Shop Classic hosted by Clayton State.

The Lakers jumped out to a quick lead in the game, scoring in the first four minutes of the match, the first goal coming on a 35-yard bullet struck by sophomore midfielder Elliot Prost in the top shelf, just out of the reach of Falcon keeper Zach Liles.

The match remained scoreless for the remainder of the half, but Clayton State came out in the second half with an offensive assault. The Lakers scored four goals in just over 10 minutes to take control of the contest. Junuzovic started the scoring frenzy hammering home a shot in the 65th minute off an assist from junior midfielder Kevin Rodriquez to give the squad a 2-0 lead.

Junior midfielder Arturo Cruz pushed the lead to 3-0 blasting a shot from 15 yards that found the back the net off an assist from freshman Jonny Evans.

Junuzovic put the game away in the 73rd minute with a neatly placed shot in the lower right of the goal off another assist from Evans. He scored his final goal in the 77th minute from five yards out off an assist from junior forward Alhagi Toure.

Clayton State finished with 19 shots in the match compared to only four for the Falcons. Senior Laker keeper Matt Sutton posted the shutout for the club.

The Lakers will return to action on Saturday at 7:30 p.m., facing Queens in the second day of the Loch Shop Classic. The Royals downed North Georgia 2-1 in the early match of the two-day tournament.
