Clayton State men’s golf places 11th at Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate Tuesday
Orange Park, FL–The Clayton State men's golf team improved five strokes in its second round Tuesday of the Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate in Orange Park, FL, but the team but slipped three spots in the team rankings to finish 11th in the tournament.
After a round of 308 on Monday, which was good for eighth place, the Lakers had a round of 303 on Tuesday to post a 611 final score. Clayton State finished one shot behind Lenoir-Rhyne and seven shots from eighth place finisher Carson-Newman.
Peach Belt Conference opponent Georgia Southwestern won the 17-team event at the Golf Club at Fleming Island with rounds of 286-285 for a cumulative score of 571.
For Clayton State, sophomore Will Shenstone shot a 2-over par 73 on Tuesday after an opening round of 76 to lead the Lakers, tying for 27th. Junior Alex Vetnar tied for 31st after posting rounds of 75 each day.
Junior Fredrick Lindblom, sophomore Ryan Haskell and junior Tyson Beaupre all tied for 60th in the event at 157. Lindblom posted scores of 80-77, Haskell had rounds of 78-79 and Beaupre finished with rounds of 79-78.
Montevallo's Conner Godsey took low medalist honors with rounds of 71 and 69 on the par-71, 6,688 yard course.
