Clayton State men’s golf in second after first day at West Georgia
Morrow, GA – After two rounds of play Monday, the Clayton State's men's golf team sits in second place at the Matt Dyas Memorial Collegiate at Oak Mountain Golf Club in Carrollton, GA.
Clayton State finished the first day with team rounds of 304 and 303 in difficult windy conditions. Tournament host West Georgia leads the event, two shots ahead of the Lakers with rounds of 306 and 299. Peach Belt Conference rival North Georgia is in third place, one shot behind the Lakers after rounds of 308 and 300.
The third and final round of the event on the par-72, 7,026-yard course will be held on Tuesday.
Clayton State junior Alex Vetnar is tied for second place after rounds of 72 and 76. He is three shots behind North Georgia's Aaron George, who is the leader entering Tuesday.
Behind Vetnar, sophomore Will Shenstone is tied for fourth after rounds of 73 and 77, followed by sophomore Ryan Haskell tied for sixth after rounds of 80 and 71. Haskell's 1-under par round of 71 tied for the lowest score of the tournament so far.
Junior Fredrik Lindblom is tied for 24th with two rounds of 79, followed by junior Tyson Beaupre tied for 48th after rounds of 82 and 87.
Clayton State's Chris McManus, Josh Stanley and Clark Nelson are participating in the event as individuals. McManus is tied for 10th after rounds of 77 and 76; Stanley is tied for 15th after rounds of 79 and 76; and Nelson is tied for 27th after rounds of 75 and 85.
