Men’s basketball game to be nationally televised on CBS College Sports Network Sat.
this week, the Clayton State men's basketball program will have a "first."
For the first time in school history, a Laker men's basketball game will be nationally televised. This Saturday's men's basketball game at the University of Montevallo will be the NCAA Division II Game of the Week and will be broadcast live on the CBS College Sports Network. Tip-off for the contest in Montevallo, AL is set for 11 a.m. CDT.
"This national game is great exposure for our University, and our program," said head coach Gordon Gibbons. "We are excited CBS selected Clayton State."
Clayton State played Montevallo this past Saturday for Homecoming and defeated the Falcons 66-64 in the closing seconds on a 3-pointer by forward Charles Shedrick.
For fans unable to attend the game in person, the Clayton State Alumni Association is planning on celebrating the occasion with two "Watch Parties," one on the north side of Atlanta, and one on the south side of Atlanta.
"Join us as at noon on Saturday, Feb. 16, as we cheer on the Clayton men's basketball team, who will play the University of Montevallo in a nationally televised game," says Clayton State Director of Alumni Relations Leila Tatum.
For the convenience of Laker fans, the Alumni Association will be hosting watch parties at The Rose & Crown Tavern, 1931 Powers Ferry Rd., SE, Atlanta, and the Skyboxx Restaurant & Sports Bar, 2180 Mount Zion Pkwy., Morrow.
Before Saturday's game, Clayton State will travel to face Georgia College on Thursday in a 7:30 p.m. contest.
