Battle of the Ages for the Clayton State men's basketball team tonight
MORROW, GA – It will be a battle of the ages tonight for the Clayton State men's basketball Saturday at the Athletics & Fitness Center.
The 2012-13 Lakers will close out their exhibition season tonight facing a team of former Laker greats in a 6 p.m. Alumni game.
"This will be the first time that we've had an alumni game since we've been here, so it will great seeing all the guys," said head coach Gordon Gibbons, entering his 12th season. "It will also be an opportunity for the former players to see all the renovations to the facility."
Among the returnees expected to return are: Mike Sloan (2004-08), Robert Murry (2009-10), Brian Kelly (2006-09), Jay Dobbs (2008-10), Josh Fullerton (2008-09), Lamar Rodgers (2000-04), Eric Wilson (2008-10), John Austin (2007-10), Torrin Greene (2008-12), Teondre Williams (2011-12) and Manny Parker (2002-04).
Over the last 11 seasons, the program has had almost 20 players play professionally overseas and currently have six players competing in the pros. The program also has four former players in the coaching ranks.
After tonight's game, Clayton State will hit the court for real on Tuesday, hosting Tennessee Temple at 7:30 p.m. Before Tuesday's home opener, there will be a special court-naming ceremony in honor of former athletic director Mason Barfield at 7 p.m.
