Clayton State’s Williams selected Peach Belt Conference men’s basketball Player of the Week

AUGUSTA, Ga. – November 28, 2011 – The Peach Belt Conference released its weekly honors for men's basketball on Monday and Clayton State's Teondre Williams was selected as the Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week.

Williams, a 6-foot-5, 218-pound senior wing from Atlanta averaged 23 points and three rebounds in Clayton State's two games last week.  In addition, he also shot 58 percent from the field, 70 percent from 3-point range and 89 percent from the free throw line.

A Division I transfer from Oregon, Williams scored a career-high 26 points on four 3-point baskets for the Lakers against West Georgia last Tuesday.  He followed that with 19 points on three 3-point baskets on Saturday in the Lakers' 55-50 victory over Wingate.

For the season, Williams is leading the Lakers in scoring, averaging 22 points a game.  He is also shooting 54 percent from the field, 50 percent from 3-point range and 76 percent from the free throw line.  Williams is ranked fourth in the Peach Belt in scoring and sixth in 3-point shooting percentage.

Clayton State plays host to Carver on Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. at the Athletics and Fitness Center, followed by Edward Waters on Saturday at 4 p.m.
