Clayton State to hold “Laker Madness” on Oct. 13

MORROW, Ga. – October 6, 2011 – "Laker Madness," the introduction of the 2011-2012 Clayton State Laker men's and women's basketball teams, will be held at the Athletics & Fitness Center on Thursday, Oct. 13, starting at 7:30 p.m.

The event is free and is open to the general public. This the prelude to the official start of basketball practice for the 2011-12 season, which begins on Saturday, Oct. 15.

The doors will open at 7:30 p.m., and the first 150 students and fans in attendance will receive a complementary Laker Madness T-shirt. The evening will preliminary feature free throw shooting, 3-point shooting and dribble skills competitions featuring student-athletes on Clayton State's other athletic teams and selected members of the Clayton student body.

After a performance by the Clayton State cheerleaders, both Laker basketball teams will be introduced. The defending NCAA Division II National Champion Clayton State women's team will go first, followed by the Laker men.

Select players will compete against the winners of preliminary contest winners. The evening will end with an always-anticipated dunk contest.

The entire program should take about 90 minutes.
