AUGUSTA, Ga. – A total of four Clayton State student-athletes have been named to the 2017-18 Peach Belt Conference Men's Track & Field All-Academic Team following an impressive performance in the classroom.
Sophomores
Jason Dang (Gainesville, Ga.),
Evan Ortiz (McDonough, Ga.) and
Keldren Reddick (Thomasville, Ga.) and junior
T.J. Witherspoon (Thomasville, Ga.) have each been named to the All-Academic Team.
Dang is an English major while Ortiz is majoring in Computer Science and Reddick and Witherspoon are Business and Biology majors, respectively. They are among 36 honorees in the PBC this season.
This is the fourth time that Witherspoon has been named All-Academic, including during the 2016-17 track & field season and each of the past two cross country campaigns. It is the first such honors of their careers for Dang, Ortiz and Reddick.
In order to qualify for the Academic All-Conference Team, student-athletes must have been at their institution for one calendar year, have achieved a cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.30 or higher on a 4.0 scale and competed in at least 50-percent of their sport as a significant contributor. The GPA is calculated through the previous semester.
The Peach Belt Conference Women's Track & Field Academic All-Conference Teams are released near the close of the regular season each year and prior to the conference championship. Clayton State returns to action when they head to the Tennessee Challenge on Saturday, May 5.
