AUGUSTA, Ga. – Five Clayton State student-athletes have been recognized for their academic accomplishments as they have been named to the 2017-18 Peach Belt Conference Women's Track & Field All-Academic Team.

Juniors
Hailey Budd (Hartwell, Ga.) and
Carla Catala Martin (Barcelona, Spain), sophomores
Nia Elmore (Hinesville, Ga.) and
Laura Shkembi (Oostende, Belgium) and senior
Kimberley Zahm (Bethlehem, Ga.) have each been named to the All-Academic Team.

Budd, Elmore and Zahm are all Psychology and Human Services majors while Martin and Shkembi are Management and Accounting majors. They are among 56 honorees in the PBC this season.

Both Budd and Zahm earned such awards for track & field during the 2016-17 track & field season. This is Elmore, Martin and Shkembi's first time in their careers earning awards in track & field.

In order to qualify for the Academic All-Conference Team, student-athletes must have been at their institution for one calendar year, have achieved a cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.30 or higher on a 4.0 scale and competed in at least 50-percent of their sport as a significant contributor. The GPA is calculated through the previous semester.

The Peach Belt Conference Women's Track & Field Academic All-Conference Teams are released near the close of the regular season each year and prior to the conference championship. Clayton State returns to action when they head to the Tennessee Challenge on Saturday, May 5.
