Clayton State's Dwamena Earns Berth on USC All-Southeast Region Second-Team

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Clayton State junior midfielder Kwaku Dwamena (Richmond, Va.) has been named to the United Soccer Coaches (formerly National Soccer Coaches Association of America) All-Southeast Region Team as announced by that organization on Wednesday, November 29.

Dwamena delivered a tremendous first season as a Laker, leading the Peach Belt Conference with 11 goals and 26 points to go along with four assists. That performance garnered him All-PBC First-Team honors as well as D2CCA All-Region Second-Team recognition.

Additionally, he became just the fourth player in program history to earn the PBC's Gold Ball Award as the league's leading scorer. He joins select company in Avery Shepard (11 goals in 2015), Jamal Geathers (18 goals in 2007) and Leighton Fredericks (13 goals in 2008).

On the year he averaged 1.44 points per game, registered at least one point in 10 of 18 games and had a streak of eight games with a point from September 27 through October 25. Included among those performances was a hat trick against Southern Wesleyan (9/13), two goals and an assist in a 3-2 overtime win over Erskine (10/4) and a goal and assist vs. Auburn-Montgomery (9/27).

Overall, Dwamena is the 32nd selection in program history, and the first since Avery Shepard's back-to-back honors in 2014 and 2015. It also represents the 15th year that Clayton State has had at least one player selected to a USC/NSCAA All-Region team. His selection is also more impressive than in past years as this year's team consists of just two squads as opposed to the three as before.

The USC All-Southeast Region team is nominated and voted on by the Southeast Region's member head coaches and is released prior to the Division II Final Four.
