Wright stepping down as Clayton State Sports Information Director
MORROW, Ga. – May 30, 2012 – The
official announcement came down on Wednesday that Lee Wright is
resigning his position as Sports Information Director at Clayton
State to pursue other professional opportunities. Wright’s
last official day at Clayton State will be May 31.
“This has been a tremendous experience and I leave Clayton
State with a very heavy heart,” said Wright. “Over the
last six years, I have grown so much personally and professionally
and will always cherish the wonderful memories and friendships that
have built up here. Personally, I thank (former athletic director)
Mason Barfield for giving me the opportunity to serve this
institution, and there has never been a better group of coaches to
be associated with than those here at Clayton State.”
Hired in March of 2006, Wright continually elevated the sports
information office at Clayton State. He enhanced the publications
for each sport and helped twice in the development and
implementation of the Clayton State Athletics website. As a game
manager, Wright initiated both live-stats and video webcasts for
Clayton State men’s and women’s basketball and
live-stats for Laker men’s and women’s soccer.
In addition, he also launched Clayton State Athletics’ social
media presence on both Facebook and Twitter. Wright was a part of
some tremendous moments during his time at Clayton State, most
notably the 2011 NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball National
Champions.
In terms of postseason, Wright served as the media coordinator for
the 2007 NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball South Atlantic
Regional and the 2011 NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball
Southeast Regional. He also served as the media coordinator for the
2007 Peach Belt Conference Men’s Soccer Tournament and the
2009 and 2010 Peach Belt Conference Men’s and Women’s
Tennis Tournaments.
At the national level, Wright served as the Southeast Region
coordinator for six years for the Daktronics Division II
Men’s Basketball All-American committee.
A nationwide search for Wright’s replacement will be
beginning shortly.
