Clayton State to host Francis Marion in PBC basketball action tonight

Morrow, GA  – After hosting Peach Belt Conference games on Saturday, the Clayton State women’s and men’s basketball teams will have a quick turnaround and play at home again today (Monday) facing Francis Marion at the Athletics & Fitness Center.

The 4th-ranked Laker women will tipoff at 5:30 p.m., followed by men’s contest at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults and children 10-under are free. Clayton State faculty, staff and students are admitted free along with a guest with their Laker ID.

The undefeated Clayton State women’s team will be looking for its 16th straight win this season after picking up a 67-46 win on Saturday against UNC Pembroke. Francis Marion enters tonight’s game with a 7-6 overall record and a 2-5 mark in the conference. The Patriots are coming off a 66-65 loss Saturday at Montevallo on a last second shot by the Falcons.

The game is the 29th meeting in the series between Francis Marion and Clayton State, and the Lakers hold a 16-12 advantage in the series. Clayton State won last year’s game between the two teams in Florence, SC, 68-56.

On the men’s side, the Lakers (7-8, 3-5) will be looking to bounce back after a 78-73 loss to UNC Pembroke on Saturday.  Francis Marion enters tonight’s game with a 5-8 record and a 1-6 record in the Peach Belt. The Patriots are coming off an 83-72 loss at Montevallo on Saturday.

The game is the 22nd meeting in the series between Francis Marion and Clayton State, and the Lakers lead 15-6 in the series. Clayton State won a thriller last year in Florence, SC, capturing a 99-94 overtime victory.
